THE FAUNA OF THE DOLOMTES
Alta Badia sits at 1500 m above sea level and it is surrounded by immense fir,
larch and pine woods. Strolling through them you can enjoy a nice concert,
held by birds living in these woods and meet roe deers, deers and hares,
and sometimes, alpine chamois.
And you can also find alpine mushrooms, famous for their wonderful taste, such as pore
fungus, club fungus and chanterelles.
If you walk through the woods next to S. Croce, you can enjoy a wonderful view both
on Alta Badia and on the massif, including the S. Croce rock (2097m high),
La Varella (3034m high) and the Conturines (3067m high).
The dolomitic rock shows all its beauty, especially at dusk, when it becomes red,
offering you a breathtaking view.
