Mountain hut Ospizio Santa Croce (mt. 2.045) The old hospice of Santa Croce was built in 1718 and has served as a place of gathering and refreshment for pilgrims from all parts of the area for hundreds of years. Still today, the hut offers its hospitality to many hungry tourists as well and its famous Kaiserschmarren (the Emperor’s pancake with raisins and red berries). Guests may also arrange to spend the night. The Rifugio Santa Croce can be reached with the Santa Croce and La Crusc chairlifts. Open in summer and winter. Family-run business.. Fam. Mountain hut Lee (mt. 1.850) The Rifugio Lee, located at the Santa Croce mountain station, offers South Tyrolean and Ladin cuisine with typical mountain specialities like eggs, speck and potatoes, roasted pork ribs with sauerkraut, canederli (dumplings) and gulasch, penne alla pastora (shepherdess’s pasta), venison stew with polenta, grilled meat, and apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Restaurant Oies Alla Tana dell’ Orso next to the church and birthplace of Saint Frëinademetz The Oies “At the Bear’s Den” restaurant has two characteristic wooden parlors: these are the famous “tana dell’orso (the bear’s den)” and the “grotta delle streghe (the witches’ grotto)” both with very original decor. The kitchen offers special dishes such as the cappello tataro (with 5 different meats), the “piatto dell’orso (the bear’s dish)”, grilled meat and a delicious variety of desserts. Restaurant Aprés Ski La Munt This hut in Badia’s center, in front of the Santa Croce chairlift, offers a cozy and comfortable atmosphere with rustic décor.
