S.Croce Ski-lift Inc. was established in 1960. The very first ski-lift was an alternated current engined gondola. Expanding tourism and the growing necessities of tourists demanded faster and newer lifts. For this reason the whole firm was renewed from its directional, structural and decisional point of view. Great credit is certainly due to Frenademetz James that he served as President of the Company from 'year 1986 until 2009, the year in which the son succeeded Frenademetz Louis.
The Santa Croce Ski-tour wasn't part of the Alta Badia and Sella Ronda Ski-ride up to 1993, because of missing lift connections between Badia and La Villa.
Finally, in 1993, thanks to the double- chair lift "Pradüc`" this was made possible. This paved the way for the assembling of new lifts and the building of an automotive snowmaking machine.
In 1995 a new automatic coupling quad chair- lift with bottomed seats, called "Sciovia S. Croce" was placed instead of the double chair-lift and this fastened skiers up ride. The lift opens both in winter and in summer and can be used by skiers and non-skiers. In the very same year the "School- Lift" used by beginners, was totally renewed.
In 2005 the "Panorama chairlift Pradüc" was newly built: the new chairlift for four people with automatic interlocking connects the Heilig Kreuz ski resort with La Villa in a short time. During the same year, the capacity of the Santa Croce chairlift was also increased. In addition, at Santa Croce chairlift valley station a building was constructed. It contains the ticket office and staff rooms, for the use of the lift and for first-aid staff.
In 2010, Seggiovia Santa Croce S.p.a. acquired all the shares of Skiland S.r.l., which owned the |
Skiland building at the foot of the slope and mountain and valley stations of the Santa Croce quad chairlift.
The Skiland building was completely renovated in 2010 and now houses the Badia ski pass office, ski school and an ultramodern rental and ski service. With this key undertaking, it was possible to move the ticket office to the lifts, as other villages in Alta Badia had been able to do, and create an all-in-one center for tourists, conventiently located in front of the slopes. |
